Biography

Dr Andrew Bennett

Dr Andrew Bennett is the Director of the Frame Laboratory.

Andrew was appointed Director of the FAL in 2006. Since then he has guided FRAME’s attention from toxicity studies towards modelling human disease using human tissues in the lab. Much of the recent focus has been on creating models of the human liver and associated diseases.

Andrew graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1987 with a BSc in biochemistry and genetics, and went on to complete a biotechnology PhD.

Andrew has been involved in funded studies and has lectured on biochemistry for a number of years at the University of Nottingham, where he became associate professor in 2003.

His passion and interest in finding human-based alternative models was what led to him being appointed Director of the FAL, and he continues to work on primary human cell culture.
