Policy

Using policy to advance the replacement of animals in research and testing

One of the most effective ways we can work towards a world without animal testing is to collaborate with policymakers. By working together and sharing our expertise, we can influence policy and strengthen legislative and regulatory frameworks related to animal use and increase commitment to progressing scientific innovation without animal research.

Policymakers often do not have specialist knowledge of animal research, the 3Rs, or modern non-animal technologies. By engaging with MPs, Peers, Ministers, Government officials, and Government advisors, we can provide them with the knowledge they need to be well-informed on these topics and make the best decisions possible.

We want to:

  • Promote the benefits of non-animal methods
  • Provide critical review and expert input
  • Support evidence-based, actionable changes

This will drive opportunities for further Government commitment and funding for human-relevant science without animals.

We will do this by focussing on three main areas of work:

  • Advocating for change
  • Strengthening legislative provisions
  • Focussing on regulatory research

You’ll find out more about our policy work below, but if you have specific questions or want to know how you can get involved, reach out to our policy lead Jessie Hellier at jessie@frame.org.uk.
