Dr Lesley Gilmour - Trustee
Lesley is a FRAME Trustee and joined the Board in August 2020.
She is the Named Training and Competency Officer (NTCO) at the University of Glasgow, where she is responsible for helping researchers achieve the highest possible scientific and welfare standards when conducting experiments using animals.
Lesley studied Molecular and Cellular Biology, before gaining a PhD in the field of cancer therapeutics. She remained in cancer research until 2017, during which time she worked on projects to develop preclinical imaging biomarkers, drug target validation and the development of preclinical models of cancer.
She is also a member of the University of Glasgow Animal Welfare Ethical Board (AWERB) and the co-chair of its Culture of Care Committee, as well as a member of the ScotPIL (personal license) Committee.
Lesley is an advocate of the 3Rs and believes that, with scientific capability and technological advancements, there is potential to develop complex and robust methods that are equal to or better than animal models.
