Longstanding supporter of FRAME receives award

FRAME has presented longstanding supporter and director of 4 Sheets Design & Print Ltd, Tony Marson with an award in recognition of 37 years of service to FRAME’s scientific journal, Alternatives to Laboratory Animals (ATLA).

Tony was solely responsible for the printing and typesetting of ATLA from 1982 until the journal’s recent transition to SAGE Publishing this year.

ATLA is published in association with FRAME and has been a key scientific journal in the field of laboratory animal alternatives for more than 30 years. It publishes articles on the latest research relating to the development, validation, introduction and use of alternatives to laboratory animals.

Tony was presented with the award at FRAME’s 50th anniversary Symposium by the charity’s Chair of the Trustees, Dr Anna Cadogan.

Commenting on Tony’s work, Managing Editor of ATLA, Susan Trigwell said: “Tony’s input into the format and design of the layout of ATLA, as well as his knowledge of key technological advances in the production and printing processes have been invaluable to FRAME.

“Tony’s original office was conveniently located on Mansfield Road, Nottingham, close to FRAME’s former base. This was important at a time before the advent of email and when proof corrections were communicated on hard copies.

“Over the past 37 years, Tony has been reliable, efficient and patient throughout the entire production process – ATLA would certainly not be what it is today without his contribution and commitment.”
